Linux의 system call인 opendir()을 써야 하는 ls 프로그램을 짤 때 이런 프로그램은 GPL의 제약을 받지 않는다는거죠.

사실 GPL의 derived work를 정의하기는 힘듭니다. emacs로 편집한 문서는 GPL일까요? indent가 정렬한 source code는요? flex/bison의 출력 결과는요? 등등등.. Linux에 대해서 커널의 system call을 쓰는 건 derived work이 아니라고 사전에 정의해버린거죠.

위의 인용에 있는 "NOTE!" 부터 세줄이 그 내용입니다. "정상적인 시스템콜을 통해 커널을 그냥 사용하는 프로그램(user program)은 'derived work'에 해당하지 않는다."

이야기가 어째 다람쥐 바퀴돌리는 그자리를 맴도는 군요.

그러게 말입니다. linux-style, Kernelism, Linux-License 세분 모두 같은 분처럼 보이네요..

웬만하면 사용자 등록을 해주시는 것이 어떨까요?
